| 1970's: Decimalisation in February 1971 saw till salesmen Stan Pigg and Malcolm Hall use their commission to invest in their own cash register business. They launched Invicta Business Machines Ltd in the December of 1971. Initially they sold Gross, Sweda and NCR cash registers. Electronic tills came onto the UK market during mid 70's at which time Stan became one of the founder members of the buying consortium know as Cash Regas. Machines were imported under the Cash Regas label in very large numbers. | | 1980's > [Close]
| 1980's: It was during this period that Invicta Business Machines Ltd started to buy Cash Register systems from Sharp UK. In the early 1980's preset machines started to be sold in ever increasing numbers, mainly into the hospitality business and back office systems became available. The company expanded slowly, selling mostly in the South East of England and additional sales and technicians were employed. Stan Pigg retired in 1982 and at this time Michael Boyes became a partner. A second office was set-up in the south to cover expansion. | |

| 1990's: Invicta Business Machines Ltd started to sell a PC based retail back office stock control system called "Stockmaster" that was written exclusively for the Company. The product was a great success and was responsible for the leap into system selling as PC based EPOS technology quickly advanced. Neil Mitchell started at this time to keep abreast of in-house technical developments, and went on to support Stockmaster and write the complementary retail product "Newsround". In 1998 the company briefly went international, winning the EPOS contract to supply EPOS systems for a new fast craft cross channel ferry service to Oostende and Dunkerque. | |

It all began in 1971 at the start of decimalisation in the UK. Two young till salesmen, Malcolm Hall and Stan Pigg were at the heart of the product changeover with their customers. With the new till business in and around London seeing huge growth, so too did their commission. Keen to invest their hard work they began a venture to supply reconditioned cash registers in the South East, and in December 1971 they founded Invicta Business Machines Ltd. Malcolm and Stan were expert salesmen and in these early days the company became established selling mechanical and electro-mechanical cash registers.
From those humble beginnings EPOS Group was born. Since then the firm has gone from strength to strength and the company's goal today, 40 years on are pretty much the same; to create real results for their clients by focusing on the point of sale and back office framework. With the growth of clients and in house expertise has come product developments and business expansion; now EPOS Group is nationwide, with offices in Manchester, London, Birmingham and Southampton.
The Brand in 2012: Brand Vision, Values and Mission
